Don’t give up, give to
I had an online conversation Tuesday with someone who was figuring out what to do for Lent. We came to the conclusion that to the point isn’t to “give up” things but to “give to.” Specifically, we’re invited to join our Creator’s work, to give our time, energy and resources to our neighbors and to our relationship with God.
In a world where it seems like we are flying upside-down at very high speed, Lent is a good time to recapture our bearings. It seems that every day we learn that some of our assumptions are wrong. The rules we have believed in about our economy, our environment, our politics, and even our faith seem called into question. (more…)

A Gift Exchange: Sunday, Feb. 15
We’ll gather for worship this coming Sunday, Feb. 15, at 10:30 a.m. in the “big room” at United Friends School, 1018 W. Broad Street, Quakertown (18951).
Our theme is A Gift Exchange and we will focus on identifying the spiritual gifts God has blessed us with. Our main text is Romans 12:1-8 if you want to read in advance.
Children will have an activity together and we will share simple refreshments afterwards (if you can bring something to share, please let us know).
Need info or directions? Contact Bob via email.

Take this Bread discussion
Our Kairos book group started discussing Sara Miles’ “Take This Bread” last time. We’re going to continue looking at the book when we meet Thursday, Feb. 12, 7-9 p.m. at Miley’s (call 267.377.7192 or email for directions). You’re welcome to jump into the discussion even if you weren’t with us last time. Please RSVP to Lori if you can.
Here are some questions to consider as you read:
· How does Sara come to discover her “calling,” and how does she go about living it out?
· She often relates real-life events to Biblical stories. When have you experienced a Bible story in your life?
· She writes about two “churches” – St. Gregory’s parish and the community that evolves at the food pantry. What do you like about either of these types of churches?
· In the interview at the end of the book, Sara says that the encounter with God is both physical and risky. Have you encountered God in this way? What happened?
