[ readings ]

As a community bathed in God’s story, we are focusing on reading Scripture together daily.

To do this, we follow a schedule of daily readings.

We have selected this daily lectionary because it most closely follows that used by the pray-as-you-go podcast, produced by the Jesuits in Ireland, which many of us use as a daily devotional.  (We read the Gospel reading for each date. Sometimes the podcast explores other readings from the daily lectionary.) This excellent podcast can be downloaded to an mp3 player or played on your computer in mp3 or Windows Media format.

Ongoing Scripture discussion

To make this daily reading and meditation on Scripture a community event, we have created an online discussion; you can join our daily discussion where you can read the text from two different bible versions. Please add your comments by clicking the number to the left of the reading (see image below).

Each day we post the daily readings with links to the text in The Message, a modern paraphrase of the Scripture, and the New Revised Standard Version.

To read what people are saying, just click on the Comments link in each daily posting. To participate in the conversation, just scroll down to the “Leave a Comment” box and enter your thoughts/observations.

Our purpose is not to do scholarly interpretation. Our discussion helps us to articulate what the Scripture is saying to us, here and now, in the midst of daily life.

You can also receive the daily reading and read what people are saying by subscribing to our conversation via email. (Unfortunately, it’s not possible to participate in the conversation via email.)
